Science and Social Studies

Elm Grove students participate in broad studies based around science and social studies themes. The year-long theme for third grade is interdependence. This topic is further developed through the following units:

Tools of the Third Grade Trade
- A study of tools that third graders use in order to be successful.
Back to the Future- A study of Buda history and how it influences us today.
Show Me the Money
- A study of the economy and how products are produced and sold.
Habitat: What’s That? – A study of ecosystems and habitats.                                                                                     
May the Force be With You- A look at forces on the earth including magnetism.
3rd Rock From the Sun- A study of the planets and their relationship to the sun.


These units are taught through children’s literature, content-area reading, as well as hands-on activities. We are going to have an exciting year in science and social studies!
